An auto mechanic performs maintenance work on a vehicle in order to prevent damage from occurring. If damage does occur, the auto mechanic also diagnosis the problem and makes repairs on the vehicle. Auto mechanics also test drive vehicles, test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities-
Performs advanced diagnostic tests.
Performs advanced maintenance tasks.
Reports work progress and problems to prevent impaired progress.
Prepare written reports, document defects and repairs on inspection forms, work orders, or designated computer programs.
Disassembles, inspects, and replaces worn or broken parts. Fits and adjusts new or repaired parts.
Uses hoist wrenches, gauges, drills or grinders, or other specialized auto mechanic tools and equipment.
Fuels, oils, and greases motor vehicles and change filters.
Test drives repaired equipment.
Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and what corrective action should be taken.
Maintain preventive maintenance, quality assurance in compliance with health and safety guidelines, using all personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean workshop area daily.
Perform related duties as directed or as the situation arises.
May drive out of state to repair vehicles that break down away from facility.
Some out of country and overnight travel may be expected
Willingness to accept night, weekend, and emergency hours.

Required Qualifications
Education-
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Technical Diploma or Certificate in related field preferred.

Experience-
Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Thorough knowledge on diesel and gas (petrol) engines.
Ability to install, repair and maintain vehicles using computer-aided diagnostic equipment and components.
++ Knowledge of armored vehicles
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within particular field.
Requires 2-5 years of experience in the field or related area

Must have good command of the English language, oral and written.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with high quality performance.
Must be able to solve problems using critical problem solving techniques.
Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment.

Supervisory Responsibility-
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility and works under immediate supervision.

Licenses/Certification-
ASE Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements-
Frequently works in a crouched position or lying on back on mechanic s dolly beneath motor vehicles.

Steel Toe Boots Required.
Background Check and Drug Screen Required.
