Design Drafter (West Houston)

Automation Personnel Services in West Houston is seeking qualified candidates for a Design Drafter position that we have available.

Compensation: Pay Rate Depending on Experience $19.87- $25.31 Monday- Thursday 6: 00 AM- 4: 30 PM Friday 6 AM- 2: 30 PM

POSITION SUMMARY:
CAD drafters create detailed schematics that are utilized in the manufacturing of products. These detailed technical drawings incorporate the input of engineers and can specify dimensions, codes, materials, and production methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
-Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
-Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
-Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery, using computer-assisted equipment.
Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
-Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
-Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems.
-Draw freehand sketches of designs, trace finished drawings onto designated paper for the reproduction of blueprints, and reproduce working drawings on copy machines.
-Supervise and train other drafters, technologists, and technicians.
-Lay out, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
-Shade or color drawings to clarify and emphasize details and dimensions and eliminate background, using ink, crayon, airbrush, and overlays.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Degree from a recognized CAD training facility.
-3-D modeling in CAD using Solid Works
-PLC programming experience plus
-Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access)
-Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Work directly with design engineers to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings and electronic images.
-Calculate tolerance stack-ups to verify design fit-up.
-Design parts based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers.
-Work closely with all departments in the plant to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
-Work from customer drawings, company drawings, government drawings or specifications.
-Use the DOD drawing standards as guidelines.
-Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
