Funeral Director and Embalmer
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a hard-working Funeral Director and Embalmer for a company based in Northport, AL. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for overseeing, directing, and coordinating all aspects of funeral services including body preparation, visitation, services, burials, and cremations, while providing caring support and advice to families and friends of the deceased.
Pay Rate
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Funeral Director and Embalmer Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee the job performance and schedules of funeral attendants and apprentices
• Coordinate arrangement for the funeral that are respectful, professional, timely, and sensitive
• Address and explain the costs of the funeral with family, options for disposition of the remains, and unsure the statement of goods is completed accurately
• Ensure paperwork is filed in a timely and orderly manner, consult with the family to obtain accurate and necessary information for completion
• Become familiar with General Price List, Casket Price List, and general merchandising
• Order monuments, markers, and any special requests of the family
• Provide instructions to the funeral attendants regarding the arrangements of services and any special instructions
• Update prep room case log and clean prep room after each embalming
• Schedule arrangements with crematories, cemeteries, and other third parties
• Process insurance claims if needed
Funeral Director and Embalmer Qualifications and Requirements
• At lease two years of college or vocational school required with coursework in mortuary science
• Funeral Director or Embalmer license according to state requirements
• Two or more years of funeral home experience required
• Ability to manage distressing and stressful situations with sensitivity and care
• Thorough understanding of laws related to funerals and funeral arrangement
• Ability to perform mortuary services
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
