Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Summary: Responsible for creating the most effective machine designs based on job specifications, concept sketches, verbal instruction, design standards, and knowledge of customer s needs based on functionality, reliability, durability, convenience, safety, maintainability, flexibility, aesthetics and cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Work with managers, shop personnel and customer to determine and evaluate the concept of the machine.
Use 3D software to design automated equipment including, but not limited to, screwdrivers, ultrasonic welders, bowl feeders, pick and place units, robotics (all varieties of motion), punch presses, clipping, and vision.
Develop appropriate solutions to design problems.
Maintain proper design approval and submit complete set of drawings to Design Manager.
Update design files with all engineering changes made by anyone on the project team.
Work directly with management to develop and maintain a complete and current Bill of Materials.
Minimize time to completion in all phases, including engineering, purchased parts, fabrication and assembly.
Follow assigned design project procedures in an orderly form (concept, review, design, and detail).
Pre-assemble review meetings with builders.
Assist in establishing and maintaining continuous improvement to our design and build standards.

Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
3+ years experience designing the mechanical aspects of machine design and build.
Working knowledge of 3D CAD.
