Rail Crew Needed

Skilled worker with a thorough knowledge of procedures and processes associated with rail yard safety, operations, and railcar movement.

Wear personal protection equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures as outlined in the KTN safety manual and OSHA regulations and use of general rail yard safety devices (blue flag signals, wheel chicks and .). Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language. Mathematical skills: ability to perform all basic calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide). Have a high standard for quality. Physical demands: Must be able to lift 55 pounds, frequently up to 100 pounds. Work environment: in and outdoor (extreme weather conditions). Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment. Perform various tasks in assistance or support of the KTN-organization including but not limited to general labor, general cleaning, and maintenance in your assigned area. Work other than normal scheduled hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. According to the needs of the business. Be on time and ready to work at the start of the shift (minimum 5 minutes before shift starts). Adhere to all KTN work and safety rules. Experienced in rail operations/railcars. Basic technical knowledge of railcars and locomotives. General knowledge of communications and rail yard terminology. Applying and releasing hand brakes. Able to judge distances associated with railcar movements. Riding rail cars and climbing onto equipment. Coupling air hoses, uncoupling cars. Monitoring the situation, environment, and gauges to gather information and take appropriate action (requires ability to recognize sounds and changes in sounds and requires color vision, the ability to detect and interpret visual objects during day and night, at near and far distances, including hand signals, printed material text, and the speed and distance of moving objects). Able to work on your feet for long periods of time. Ability to perform assigned work tasks with little or no supervision.

$12.00 per hr DOE
