Class A CDL Truck Driver
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a hard-working Class A CDL Truck Driver for a company based in Decatur, AL. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for operating a heavy capacity commercial truck to transport freight between customer locations as well as to their suppliers and customers.
Pay Rate
$22.00 per hour or more depending on experience.
Schedule and Hours
Monday Through Friday 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM
Class A CDL Truck Driver Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate a truck with capacities greater than 3-tons including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver steel products.
• Perform required daily vehicle inspections and monthly checklists to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Maneuvers trucks into loading and unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that the vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Secures cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers.
• Inspect material placed on truck for defects before and after trips.
• Inspects securement devices (chains, straps, tie-downs) for defects.
• Maintains inspection paperwork and documentation relating to accidents or material defects.
• Follows a pre-determined schedule of pickup and delivery.
Class A CDL Truck Driver Qualifications and Requirements
• Ability to operate a tractor trailer for up to ten consecutive hours.
• Ability to operate a clutch pedal.
• Knowledge and ability to comply with all D.O.T. and FMCSR requirements as well as applicable state laws.
• Knowledge and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
• Ability to routinely twist, bend, stoop, and squat.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must have a current Class A CDL license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record. A minimum of two years steel hauling experience is preferred but may be substituted with equivalent experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.
This is a safety sensitive position. This work is performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to the machinery and equipment processes. The temperature of the facility will vary based on the outside weather conditions. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance and may include overtime as deemed necessary by management.
