ANALYTICAL CHEMIST
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a Analytical Chemist for a company based in Tuscaloosa, AL. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide timely and accurate analytical expertise to all business units. You will ensure the maintenance and good working order of all analytical equipment associated with the acquisition of data in support of business unit projects and technical service.
Pay Rate
$60,000 to $80,000 annual salary
Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 8 00 am to 5 00 pm.
Analytical Chemist Duties and Responsibilities
• Receive and analyze customer samples and report results via the CLOSAR database to Technical Service, within the established turnaround times.
• Receive and analyze project samples and report results via database to personnel submitting the samples, within the established turnaround times.
• Develop new analytical methods to support project work, including adaptation of existing or ASTM methods.
• As backup when needed, receive and analyze operational samples and report results via the SodaChem database to personnel, within the established turnaround times.
• Take self-development activities, such as attending training/seminars or other professional activities to stay current on technical capabilities, competency and advances in the industry.
• Have the ownership of analytical instruments and maintain their good working conditions. Assist in maintenance of other analytical instruments.
• Ensure that the established priorities are met while staying ready/flexible enough to provide help on a short notice or to deliver results on a faster turnaround when justified.
• Ensure that the needed analytical instruments are well maintained and timely upgraded to function in their full capacity.
• Continuously improve our commitment to excellence in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security performance.
Analytical Chemist Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field required, with a minimum of 5 years experience.
• Specialized technical skills, including knowledge and use of various analytical instruments; knowledge and use of data acquisition software, and method development skills for analytical testing required.
• Experience with analytical instruments preferred, including liquid and ion chromatography, GC-MS, FID, FPD, SCD, TCD, PAC Antek N/A, and Auto-titrators.
• Knowledge and experience in refinery and caustic chemical industries preferred.
