Safety Manager: Food Manufacturing, Experienced
Under administrative direction, the Safety Manager develops and implements programs, practices and procedures to reduce the frequency and severity of accidental loss in the areas of workers compensation and general/property liability; ensures Company compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations which are designed to protect the human, financial and physical assets of the Company; assists with developing and maintaining a Company-wide safety culture through safety training, risk assessments, and behavior modification programs.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Provides technical expertise in Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance.
Assists in the development of programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety-related regulations, in addition to other environmental health, safety, and loss prevention standards and guidelines.
Performs regular physical inspections of building grounds, buildings, equipment and operations; identifies hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance, and recommends corrective actions.
Provides and/or sources ongoing safety and loss prevention training for employees of the Company.
Ensures completion of day-to-day health and safety activities, agency notifications, agency inspections, compliance reporting and recordkeeping.
Maintains accident reporting and investigation processes; leads incident investigations and trains others on accident/incident procedures.
Leads Safety Committee meetings and coordinates required compliance training; maintains appropriate training and inspection records.
Liaison with loss prevention specialists and workers compensation insurance carriers to effectively manage workers compensation and the Company s return-to-work programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent training, presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
Advanced understanding of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations and practices.
Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to identify and address trends in quantifiable data.
Demonstrated experience working in a production manufacturing environment, with proven facilitation and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact in an effective manner with all levels of the organization
Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement loss prevention and/or cost savings efforts.
The Safety Manager oversees the safety program and related elements within a food processing facility. The manufacturing operation consists of food production lines and a distribution facility.
3+ years of experience working OSHA, environmental health and other relevant regulatory compliance practices
3+ years of experience with workers compensation recording, reporting and accident investigations
3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing and or industrial environment.
2+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment desirable.
BS. In Industrial Management, Occupational Safety or Health, or comparable/related experience, including safety program/loss reduction implementation(s)
