Utility Operator
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a hard-working utility operator in the Northwest of Houston Texas. Responsible for the safe and timely handling, marking, and moving of materials necessary to extrude or fabricate department’s production (on or offline).
Pay Rate
$14.00 - $15.00 an hour (depending on experience)
Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (training first 4 to 6 weeks)
Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm or 11:00 pm to 7:30 am
Utility Operator Duties and Responsibilities
• Primarily responsible for ensuring that all main hoppers and satellite hoppers have adequate amounts of material when lines are running or being made ready to run
• In preparation for work orders coming into production, reviews production schedule and related paperwork, and transports raw and finished material or equipment to and from designated areas as required. Timeliness and accuracy are essential to improvement of downtime and changeover.
• Responsible for ensuring that raw materials are not contaminated by keeping materials separated, using clean gaylords and packaging, and emptying hoppers carefully to ensure that materials are kept clean and never mixed before returning to the warehouse.
• Completes the Extrusion Material Shift Report each day to report the actual raw materials used on each work order (e.g. Regrind versus Virgin Materials). Primarily responsible for ensuring that materials at the lines being used are the same as the ones called for on the production work order. Records and reports the proper material including percent of mix to the Head Packer on the Extrusion Material Shift Report for proper material transfer entry.
• Assists with breaks, maintenance, housekeeping, safety, and security issues as needed.
• Communicates preceding shift of all current activities, assists in line changeover as required.
•Assists with extrusion line make-ready or line packing as requested.
• Reports all inconsistencies, mechanical and electrical problems, or forklift difficulties to supervisor.
Utility Operator Qualifications and Requirements
• High School diploma or GED or six months related experience and/or training.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
• Previous experience using a forklift; preferably licensed.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in both oral, written or diagram form.
