Warehouse Associate
Automation Personnel Services has an immediate job opening for a Warehouse Associate to join our team in Hammond, LA. . As a Warehouse Associate, you will perform a variety of tasks in connection with the pallet building via partial picking, full pallet removal and storage, and daily cleaning. You will also build, receive, check, store, count and distribute inventory of all types in accordance with established systems, procedures, and methods. Warehouse equipment is also used to help achieve this goal. This is a potentially permanent position with a wonderful company where you can build a long term career! Start Date: October 18, 2024 Shift: 1st shift. Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour.
Requirements: • Must have steel toe shoes. All other PPE, including COVID-19 protection face mask, will be provided by the plant manager. • Must have reliable transportation; public transportation does not go to the plant location. • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts if needed. • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Schedule and Hours
Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders and distributing orders to sales associates for processing
- Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders and requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed and/or shipped
- Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for employee and customer traffic
- Complete your work in a safe manner; adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Assemble products and participate in inventory counts as needed
- Take check calls from drivers, ensuring that loads will deliver on time; validate all load data prior to marking loads delivered, for accounting purposes
- Monitor daily pick-ups and deliveries; verify that loads have arrived on time and in good condition
What you’ll need to excel
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends, due to varying freight volumes
- Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry
- Experience loading and unloading trailers
- Experience using handheld scanners
- The ability to apply critical thinking to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form
- This job requires the ability to:
- Must be able to lift, push or pull at least 75 pounds
- Ability to load and unload trucks
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
- Reads load reservations and customer order requests (computer generated pre-sell orders) to determine stock items to be pulled for distribution
- Builds customer orders and requests by picking from inventory and stacking on pallets to be placed in staging areas
- Audits picked orders for accuracy and reports discrepancies to supervisor for corrections
- Stacks, arranges, and wraps product on pallets to prepare for shipping
- Assists with loading/unloading products on sales trucks or transportation trailers
- Organizes product in warehouse/location as necessary during reallocations of space or taking of inventory.
- Completes forklift and pallet jack inspections before each shift if required by location
- Replenish stock while maintaining a cleaned and organized warehouse/location daily
- Required to complete the execution of daily receiving and shipping schedules based upon the published load boards in a safe, timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Follow GMPs for food safe facilities in accordance with AIB and location policies
- Follow strict safety program guidelines in accordance with OSHA and location policies
- Additional/differential duties may be required depending on location of position
