The estimator will be responsible for working with the engineering department to develop accurate and timely estimates in response to requests for quotes from our customers.
Qualify projects based on budget, feasibility, project schedule, and overall applicability.
Review requests for quote and determine job requirements. This includes interpreting technical documents such as blueprints, drawings, and regulatory information.
Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure quotes capture the full range of potential costs.
Utilizes historical data to establish and document standard costs and utilize data as directed to support estimation. Develop costs for new work when standards and history do not exist.
Identify components and materials that meet the project specification under the guidance of Engineers.
Researches and evaluates suppliers to ensure the availability of materials and confirm that materials meet the organization's standards of price and quality.
Produce customer quotes based on job requirements. Quotes include time, cost and labor estimates.
May update costs as necessary based on new information or project scope changes.
Supports the development and maintenance of resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, requirements, etc.
Adheres to all processes and procedures
Provides excellent internal and external customer service
May support other areas as requested, increasing gaining exposures to increasingly more complex functions.
Pay Rate: $15.00 hourly
2-4 years of related experience and/or training providing quotes and estimates preferably in a manufacturing environment. Associates degree preferred.
Knowledge of the manufacturing process
Demonstrated experience responding to request for quotes from customers.
Proficiency using computer software
Superb math skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills- verbal and oral
The ability to work well with team members
The ability to interpret technical documents such as blueprints or mechanical drawings
The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
The ability to use inductive or deductive reasoning as necessary
The ability to organized time and prioritize work
The ability to complete training in a timely manner
Experience using CAD software to design products for customers a plus
