Health Safety and Environment Manager - Head of HSE Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain safety records, forms, and manuals using online systems; recommend and adopt new technologies as needed.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate safety personnel; oversee hiring, training, and performance reviews.
- Investigate incidents, identify trends, and manage emergency procedures to improve safety outcomes.
- Work with departments like HR, accounting, and operations to ensure safety compliance and support organizational goals.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and other safety equipment; assess operational safety needs and recommend improvements.
- Manage safety budget, maintain positive external relationships, and complete reports or other duties as assigned.
Health Safety and Environment Manager - Head of HSE Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering or related field (preferred NEBOSH, CSP, etc.)
- At least 5 years of relevant experience managing HSE functions (ideally in a leadership position).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant maritime regulations and industry standards (preferred).
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
- Work occurs both in office settings and outdoor environments; accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
- Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and use of hands to grasp, handle, or operate objects, tools, and controls.
- Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and walking.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs.
- Hand-eye coordination required for operating computers and office equipment.
- Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
